Our History....
American Transfer & Storage Co., Inc. was founded in 1954 by Lamar "Shorty" Haynes and his wife Lou. Shortly thereafter, American Transfer & Storage started doing business as Haynes Van & Storage.
The first home office was located on Gulf Beach Highway but within two years we had outgrown our surroundings and needed more space. So, in 1958 the offices were moved closer to "Movers Row" on Navy Boulevard. Again, rapid growth in the area allowed us to look for more opportunities, so in 1964 we moved away from the southwest side of town to a more centralized location at 3495 North Alcaniz Street. Today, this is where we are located and have expanded our site to include three warehouses and over 25,000 square feet of storage and office space.
1968 was a time of dramatic change as Shorty and Lou retired and their son, Lamar "Butch" Haynes, Jr. took over the reigns of the company. Butch has taken the company to new highs, including running a branch office in Fort Walton Beach from 1968 to 1982, involving our firm in the ever-growing record storage business, and mastering the science of customer service.
In the 55 years that we have had the pleasure to serve the Pensacola area, we have helped many types of customers. From military to civilian, from big to small, from local to long distance, we realize that without our customers, we could not be in business today, and for them we are extremely grateful. With that in mind, we look to the future with a keen sense of what it will take to be an industry leader for years to come. In 1998, a third generation of Haynes' entered the company, as Butch's son, Keith, became Vice President.
We know that in order to succeed for another half century, Haynes Van and Storage must not lose sight of the customer as our number one asset. For those customers that we served in the past, Thank you!
